Artist Statement
I usually exhibit at a few art festivals throughout the year, though it depends on my schedule and availability.
Nov. 2-3, 2024 — This will be my first time exhibiting at the Right Whale Festival in Fernandina Beach. Yay!

Why I Draw, Paint & Create
Drawing and painting are my own personal “moments of zen.” I’m sure most artists will say the same, but getting lost in the flow, only to lookup and see that an hour has passed, is a rare precious gift, especially in our over-saturated world. However, I share my art with others because I was inspired by a quote attributed to Scottish sculptor Anne Bevan.
“Art is our memory of love. The most an artist can do through their work is say, let me show you what I have seen, what I have loved, and perhaps you will see it and love it too.” - Anne Bevan, 2003
I share my work to highlight the natural beauty of my home. Born in Florida, I grew up near the beach, and water has always been a constant in my life. Although I now live in the middle of the state, and I love the grand Live Oaks and old Florida feel, my heart belongs to the ocean. Ever since I saw my first wild dolphin trailing the boat to Caladesi Island, I have been in love with the ocean and the creatures who live there. I focus on marine life because they are often unseen, but our actions (or inaction) can harm them just the same.
Marine life is not the only thing I love to draw, though it is certainly the highlight of my artistic mission. I also draw maps. First, l am fascinated by maps, and I’ve noticed that most people feel the same way. Drawing maps is fun, but it also allows me see a town, a city, or an area in a new lens. We are surrounded by so many wonders and yet we are often too busy - myself and my family included- to notice. I make maps so that others will notice. Because if we notice, we appreciate. And if we appreciate, we make conscious choices for the greater good.
