I’m Liz Greaser and I love making simple and soft images that tell a story, preferably one set outdoors. Since I live in Florida, I prefer to be outside as much as possible, as long as it’s not too cold!  My favorite things to draw are often found in the sea or on the beach.

Since neither dolphin trainer nor artist were acceptable career paths for a working class kid, I decided to follow my love of books and pursue a master’s degree in library and information science. For 12 years I’ve worked as a librarian in public, college and school libraries.  Along the way, I discovered a love of teaching and earned a Montessori teaching credential, as well as Florida K-12 teaching certifications in art and media.

Despite a long and winding path, I never stopped drawing. Nor did I stop learning. I have completed multiple intensives with the Illustration Department and Rhode Island School of Design, attended various SCBWI workshops and participated in the live, online course, Let’s Make Picture Books. I have taken numerous traditional college-level art courses, and I am a seven-year member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

When I’m not drawing in my sketchbook or walking the dog, I’m running (slowly) with my husband or playing ping pong with our two sons. After everyone has gone to bed, I crawl under the covers and read until my eyes refuse to stay open.
